Hi, I’m Alison.

I am a writer, editor, native plant gardening enthusiast, sometimes photographer, and a drinker of fine loose-leaf teas. I have the privilege of living on the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, and I’m learning more every day what it means to honour that privilege.

In 2019, I took the plunge into native plant gardening with no experience or know-how. With the help of a Master Gardener, google, and some incredible books like Lorraine Johnson’s 100 Easy-To-Grow Native Plants for Canadian Gardens and Mary Siisip Geniusz’s Plants Have So Much To Give Us, All We Have To Do Is Ask: Anishinaabe Botanical Teachings, I’ve learned so much and I have a garden that I love.

When I’m not in the garden, I write things for this blog, and for clients I’m fortunate to work with.
